Q. Who operates the tours?

WWF-Australia, in association with Latitudes World Discovery Tours, has formed a unique relationship with a range of experienced, responsible tourism operators.

Q. How does WWF benefit from my participation?

A proportion of each participant's tour price is donated to WWF to assist us with our conservation work in Australia.

Q. Is there an expert guide on every tour?

Each trip has an experienced guide, who is an expert on the area being visited. On some trips local guides, guest speakers, and other experts complement the staff and enhance your experience.

Q. What is the accommodation like?

Accommodations are carefully chosen for their proximity to wildlife and natural wonders, as well as for their comfort level and charm. Depending on the destination, accommodations vary from rustic to five-star.

The Tarkine Trek includes several nights camping with most camping equipment provided. The pre-trip materials specify the type of accommodations you can expect and any personal items you will need to bring with you.

Q. How fit do I need to be to enjoy a WWF trip?

To participate in all the opportunities our trips offer, you should be energetic and in reasonably good health, with a spirit of adventure and flexibility.

Some tours seldom require greater physical exertion than a long nature walk. Others such as the Patagonia Lodge-to-Lodge Hiking, Estancia Ride and the Tarkine Trek are moderate to challenging and require an above average fitness level.

Again, the pre-trip materials contain detailed information about what to expect from each tour.

Q. Is there an age limit?

Our trips are designed for travellers of all ages, from young adults to active seniors.

Q. What's included?

As a general rule, most accommodation and meals are included, services of a professional guide/leader, local guides, all entrance/activity fees, transfers (land and air) and taxes.

Not included: Airfares to and from the tour departure point, some optional activities, items of a personal nature, alcohol, gratuities, travel insurance.

A full list of inclusions is contained in the detailed trip notes for each tour.

Q. Will I feel comfortable travelling alone?

It is very common for travellers to participate on their own and enjoy travelling with a congenial group that is particularly interested in wildlife and nature. You can ask to share accommodations with another participant, or on most trips for an additional cost, you can request a private room (subject to availability).

Q. Do I need to be an experienced rider for the Estancia Ride trip?

You will need to have intermediate to advanced experience. This is a fast paced ride with some very long riding days. Fitness and experience are essential so this trip is not suitable for beginners.

As a guide, you should be able to control a horse on open ground at the canter. The guides can provide willing, free-going horses to experienced riders who like a faster pace and also horses that are extremely kind to intermediate riders.

All riders would benefit from getting riding fit before the trip. A few tough one-hour lessons with lots of trotting shortly before travelling is a good idea. Some of the riding days are long. Stamina and a positive attitude in about equal measures are helpful.
