WWF-Australia - for a living planet

What are you running for?

On August 31, you can fight climate change by running for WWF

From Lima to Los Angeles, Madrid to Melbourne, Nike is asking, "What are you running for?"

And people around the world are voting for climate change with their feet!

You can raise vital funds to support our work on climate change when you join a local race choosing WWF as your nominated charity. Every kilometre you run in the race will be a vote for climate change! You can make your vote count even more by tracking your training kilometres at www.nikeplus.com

Tell the world that climate change - and working together to solve it - is important to you!

There are solutions, and you can help WWF act now!

Australians are the highest per-capita greenhouse gas polluters in the developed world.

Every day we shape our planet's future when we make small life decisions - what we buy, what we eat, how we travel. The future of the planet is in our hands; the future is man-made. If we choose to live sustainably, we can assure a future for all living things. But we can have some fun doing it too!

Runners in the Nike+ Human Race can race for climate change and take others with them on their journey to raise funds, and awareness, to combat a problem we can all help solve. Runners' footfalls in the race can be low impact on our planet, as participants can run wherever they are and still join this global event.

What is the Nike+ Human Race?

The race was born with the goal to celebrate runners and their sport, while uniting athletes world-wide through the world's largest running event ever organized. It will be held on August 31, 2008 anywhere a registered runner chooses to hit the pavement. Nike has organized 25 physical race cities, but the Nike+ Human Race is truly open to everyone, everywhere.

Nike has been working with WWF to combat climate change since joining WWF's Climate Savers program in 2001. For the Human Race, Nike is committing a minimum donation of $500,000 to support WWF's work globally, plus it will give WWF-Australia a proportion of the race entry fee from participants who choose to run for WWF. Runners can also pledge further funds to WWF. Runners' footfalls in the race can be friendly to the planet, as participants can run wherever they are and still join this global event. Nike is working to ensure the race in Melbourne will have a low climate impact.

Register at www.nikeplus.com and choose to join the race in Melbourne or run wherever you are, and select WWF as your chosen charity. Then track your training and race miles online with Nike+ and share with your mates, and the world, your passion for running for climate change - get started as we're running out of time!
