Tips and information
We can work as a community to reduce our footprint.
As a community we can provide direction to our governments on the necessary policies so that we reduce Australia's ecological footprint. Pricing of carbon emissions, establishing mandatory renewable energy targets, mandatory vehicle efficiency standards, efficiency ratings on all electrical appliances - these are all things on which our governments can act.
WWF – Leading the way
WWF's Earth Hour has raised the awareness of Australians of the impact of greenhouse gas emissions and steps they can take to reduce them. WWF also produces research on the impact of climate change and promotes initiatives that governments can take to reduce energy use and emissions.
WWF's recent publications available on this website include:
- A Prosperous Low Carbon Future which outlines steps that can be taken by both individuals and governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Priorities for a Living Australia which summarises the actions the Federal Government must take to tackle dangerous climate change.
- Climate Solutions- WWF's Vision for 2050 which shows the technical feasibility of reducing greenhouse gas emissions using currently available renewable energy sources.
- A Clean Energy Future - it is possible to achieve a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions from stationary energy by 2040, by using a mix of existing technologies.
