REGENERATING NATURE TOGETHER: HOW BOTANICA IS HELPING RESTORE AUSTRALIA’S FORESTS
Australia’s forests are among the most biodiverse on Earth. They give us clean air and water, fertile soils and shelter for countless species – from tiny pollinators to mighty koalas. But after decades of deforestation and degradation, and with the growing impacts of climate change, many of these ecosystems are now under serious threat.
Through its Together for Nature Regeneration partnership with Botanica, we're helping to change that. Over three years, Botanica is supporting WWF-Australia and their work to Regenerate Nature by 2030, and restore and protect forest landscapes at scale.
This partnership connects everyday action – choosing fragrances inspired by nature – with tangible on-ground outcomes. Each contribution helps replant forests, protect wildlife habitat and ensure that nature can thrive for generations to come.
Here’s some of the incredible impact working in partnership makes possible:
1) Protecting and restoring Australia’s forests and landscapes
Forests are more than just trees – they're living ecosystems that hold stories, sustain life and connect culture to Country. Sadly, Australia is a global deforestation front with forests being cleared at a staggering rate, leaving them fragmented and degraded. That’s why we’re working in collaboration with First Nations, local community groups and on-ground partners to protect our forest landscapes and restore what has already been lost.
Through high biodiversity native plantings, targeted habitat recovery for priority species like koalas and supporting sustainable land management practices, we’re working to restore 100,000 hectares of vital native landscapes and protect 1 million hectares of existing forest habitat from the threats of logging and deforestation.
2) Supporting biodiversity
Restoring and protecting landscapes is about more than just planting trees – it's also about supporting biodiversity and making our ecosystems resilient. Reconnecting fragmented forest habitats gives endangered species like koalas, greater gliders and eastern quolls a chance to thrive into the future.
By working closely with partners to ensure healthy and resilient landscapes, native species can be brought back to places where they once called home – like the eastern quoll, which were once extinct on mainland Australia – and restoring ecological balance and cultural connections.
3) Educating and raising awareness
Partnerships don’t just help to restore landscapes – they also amplify impact. Education and building awareness are key to addressing challenges like climate change and biodiversity loss. Through public campaigns and community programs, we’re raising awareness about the importance of forests and the life they support – for wildlife, climate and communities.
By connecting people to nature and showing them the difference they can make, we can encourage communities to take action for nature.
People powering regeneration
Behind every hectare restored and every seed planted are the hands and hearts of people working on Country. From Traditional Owners leading land management to local volunteers and regional scientists, regeneration is a collective effort – one that strengthens culture and community while reviving wildlife habitat.
A partnership inspired by nature
When Botanica set out to create fragrances inspired by the Earth’s finest scents, nature provided. Now, through its partnership with WWF-Australia, Botanica is giving back. Over the next three years, Botanica is supporting WWF-Australia's work to regenerate nature and restore vital native landscapes – showing how business can be a force for good when sustainability sits at its core.
Looking ahead
The challenge of regenerating nature is vast, but progress is possible – one tree, one project and one partnership at a time. Over the coming years, WWF-Australia will continue working with partners like Botanica to scale restoration, support Indigenous-led land management and safeguard forests for future generations. Together, we can ensure that from the tiniest wildflower to the tallest eucalyptus, every part of our natural world has the chance to thrive again.
