NEW APPROACHES TO PARTNERSHIP AT WWF

Over the past year, nature and biodiversity have risen to the top of the global agenda like never before. The vision for a nature-positive future is gaining traction every day, requiring us to reconsider what ‘business as usual’ might look like.

In response to this shift, we’re seeing the corporate sector leading the way to this positive change. New ways of doing business are emerging; ones that place social and environmental outcomes as central to a brand’s purpose. More and more businesses are designing new approaches to giving back that connect their brand with the values their employees and consumers values hold dear.

For more than 20 years, WWF-Australia has been working with businesses to change behavior and drive conservation results that would not be possible otherwise. We know that one organisation alone can’t affect the change needed. Harnessing the power of collective action is the key to achieve the change we want to see.

That’s why at WWF we are committed to developing new kinds of partnerships and joining forces with businesses that are making it easier than ever for individuals and businesses to make a difference.

Take a look at some of the unique ways we are partnering with businesses to help regenerate Australia:

I=Change

i=Change offers a uniquely simple and powerful model that allows brands to give back $1 from every online sale. I=change exists to easily build purpose into a retailer’s customer journey – helping support important community projects, while driving customer engagement and sales.

WWF-Australia has joined as a Project Partner on the i=Change platform. Donations from participating brands are supporting WWF-Australia’s Rewilding program, helping to reverse the decline of Australia’s wildlife and restore biodiversity.

A certified B-Corporation founded by Jeremy Meltzer over eight years ago, i=Change now has over 300 retailers on board and growing. The i=Change platform engages every customer post-purchase to see how much their purchase has helped raise, and its impact with 100% transparency.

“By making it simple and powerful for retailers to give - and for consumers to shop these brands - i=Change is delivering a growing and sustainable funding stream to positively impact communities and the environment around the world.”

Tasmanian Walking Co

WWF-Australia's partnership with Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) is creating a way for travellers to experience Australia's unique wilderness, while contributing to conservation efforts.

United by a common goal to conserve the natural environment and Australian wilderness for generations to come, together we launched the inaugural Walk for Wild fundraising ecotour series. Centred around four of TWC’s award-winning walks, the partnership will raise funds for WWF’s Regenerate Australia program while encouraging people to enjoy Australia’s incredible natural environment.

Together, TWC and WWF-Australia will seek to educate walkers on the importance of conservation of our iconic wilderness areas, and support projects that have a genuine and tangible impact on these wild spaces and the animals that call them home.

“Walk for Wild is an exciting opportunity for people to enjoy the health and well-being benefits of walking in Australia’s remote wilderness areas while at the same time knowing the full purchase price of their walk is contributing to this incredible conservation effort.” - Brett Godfrey, co-owner of Tasmanian Walking Company

Workplace Giving Spotlight Partner: Accenture

Accenture’s purpose is to deliver on the promise of technology and human ingenuity. And there are few things with greater promise than sustainability. Their Sustainability Squad community offers Accenture people the opportunity to apply their passion and skill sets to connect, learn, act and inspire others on all things sustainability.

As one of WWF’s Workplace Giving partners, Accenture boosts the impact of their employees’ generous donations by matching 50% of every Dollar donated to WWF. Accenture top donors were thanked with tree adoptions to mark Workplace Giving Month in June 2021 and their employees are able to adopt koalas, platypus and turtles through WWF’s program.

Accenture drives staff engagement with WWF through volunteering activities and hosting WWF speakers at their events. To celebrate the birthday of their Sustainability Squad, Accenture adopted a tree sapling for each member to help regenerate the Daintree rainforest.

What’s next? An upcoming screening of the Regenerating Australia film could be an inspiration for Accenture staff to apply their skills to programs like their Sustainability Innovation Challenge to reverse environmental damage and create a positive impact for people and the planet.
