THE BODY SHOP
The Body Shop and WWF-Australia partnered together to help wildlife impacted by the devastating 2019-20 bushfires.
The Body Shop partnered with WWF-Australia to help restore and protect the forest homes our koalas and other Australian wildlife have lost in the bushfire season of 2019-20.
For every limited edition Koala Headband sold, a donation of $5 was made to WWF’s Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund.
In addition, The Body Shop adopted a koala on behalf of every one of their 93 stores! By adopting koalas, The Body Shop are helping to plant native trees for koalas to live in; caring for sick and injured koalas, and supporting efforts to stop excessive tree-clearing and protect wildlife for the long-term.
The bottom line
The devastating bushfires of 2019-20 have killed over 1.25 billion animals, including thousands of koalas and iconic species such as kangaroos, wallabies, kookaburras, cockatoos and honeyeaters. WWF’s Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund will deploy emergency funds to care for our injured wildlife and now that the fires have cleared, help restore the forest homes our koalas, kangaroos and other animals have lost, by planting and protecting Two Billion Trees by 2030, creating safe corridors for koalas, and helping to implement Indigenous and rural fire management. The work also assists in future-proofing Australia, including driving solutions to help mitigate climate change, driving climate preparedness, species adaptation and long-term wildlife and nature conservation efforts towards securing Australia’s natural resources for people and nature.
