CHOOSE NATURE

Call on your political leaders to protect nature.

April update: Your voice is being heard, leaders are listening and are already making nature commitments aligned with WWF-Australia's key policy asks of the next Government.

We have just launched our Nature Commitment Survey, asking political parties and independents where they stand on climate and nature.

Find out where they stand below, and call on them for stronger commitments.

Nature is the foundation of our lives—our health, economy and future depend on it, yet it is under threat like never before.

Upcoming elections are a key time for leaders to make policy commitments that shape our future. You can help make sure nature is high on the policy agenda. We’re asking political leaders to commit to: 1. Funding for nature

2. Stronger nature laws 3. Ocean protection 4. A nature-positive economy

5. Renewable energy

Join us by sending a message to your political leaders now, asking them to choose nature to secure a thriving future for all.

Invest 1% of the budget into nature to repair and recover Australia’s unique wildlife

Australia spends less than 0.1% of its budget protecting our unique and fragile natural environment. This is far below what’s needed to halt and reverse nature loss.

Fix nature laws to stop deforestation and habitat destruction

Australia’s nature laws are failing to protect our wildlife and critical reforms have stalled in parliament. This means precious species like the greater glider and koala continue to be at risk of extinction.

Protect our oceans and marine life

Our oceans are in peril. WWF-Australia is calling for strong measures to safeguard marine habitats and create safe pathways for wildlife. A healthy ocean supports people, nature, and the planet, and it's time for Australia to play a leadership role in ocean conservation.

Build an economy that protects nature

Australia’s economic systems are driving the destruction of nature. Achieving a nature-positive economy is not an option but a necessity. The next Australian Government must address the economic drivers of nature loss and reform the economic rules of the game.

Replace fossil fuels with renewables

Climate change is moving faster than we are, with dangerous consequences for nature and people. 2024 was the hottest year on record—we need to take urgent action. WWF-Australia is urging the government to stop approving new coal, oil, and gas projects and rapidly shift to renewable energy.
