ENDANGERED KOALAS TO BENEFIT FROM KOALA MATTRESS SALES

Endangered koalas on the east coast of Australia have extra support thanks to a new partnership between WWF-Australia and Koala, the online retailer.

Through the partnership, Koala will make a donation to symbolically adopt a real-life koala with every mattress purchase. This will aid WWF-Australia’s work to protect and restore koala forests.

“Koalas in Queensland are headed down to extinction largely because of out-of-control bulldozing of forests,” said WWF-Australia conservation scientist Dr Martin Taylor.

“With the Koala Company’s help and help from their customers we will be trying to turn this around by stopping the destruction and pushing for positive regeneration of forests” he said.

Mitchell Taylor, Co-founder and Director of Koala said: “At Koala, we believe in reversing environmental trends and leaving the Earth in better condition than we found it."

“That's why we partner with organisations like WWF, supporting their work to build better habitats and innovating together to help protect biodiversity,” he said.

The partnership also aims to inspire and educate Koala’s customers about the work of WWF to protect threatened and endangered wildlife, such as stopping activities including excessive tree-clearing that puts iconic species and habitat at risk.

Globally, WWF has been working successfully on the conservation of the world’s most iconic species for over 50 years. WWF works in partnership with a variety of organisations, communities and individuals to protect those endangered species most in need.
